Great school. Incredible academics, faculty and administration. What matters is the kids, and ours are obsessed with learning and reading!
I am surprised at some of the negative reviews. Country Day is not inexpensive and no substitute for a lack of parental participation in a child's development. However, the education and experience our three children get from the school is invaluable and clearly setting them up to have competitive advantages in life. Our oldest in second grade is reading on a 7th grade level, multiplying multi digit numbers, dividing, speaking broken Spanish, knows an amazing amount of american sign language and a fair amount of Chinese in addition to participating in hour long drama productions. Our daughter has blossomed in her confidence and drive to learn. She is completing kindergarten knowing how to write simple sentences, read, speak words in Spanish and Chinese, sign words and songs in american sign language, add, subtract and do multiplication as well as perform in drama and make simple speeches with confidence in front of a crowd. Our youngest is in a toddler class (2-3). He knows some sign language, speaks in complete sentences, is respectful to others, and will look you in the eye to talk to you. The teachers meet us every day at drop off to respectfully greet the kids, look them in the eye, shake their hand and say good morning as well as share anything important that the parents need to know. The school has full PE with some fantastic coaches, chess, robotics, drama, a full barnyard of animals the children interact with, equestrian programs, foreign languages, and sign language to highlight a few of the unique opportunities. They have a cafeteria that prepares home cooked hot lunches and if it is important to you they welcome dietary restrictions. One of our favorite points of the campus is they are open to all races and faiths with a completely non bias view. Our children have respectfully learned not to see any differences in their friends regardless of their skin color, bindi, hijab, dread locks or even food allergies. We never thought our children would attend a private school but after our first was in kindergarten we were hooked. We make a point to budget so our children can have such a great opportunity.
So far , both my 4 year old daughter and I have been overall pleased with our experience at the school , as she has been here for 1.5 yrs now.
No complaints after three years. Wish I had gone here as a kid. Offers way more than almost every other school.
5 stars plus! There is no better private school in this area. No matter your child's age/grade level, Country Day will provide them with an education that will prepare them for life. Every member of the faculty and administration truly cares for the safety and well being of every child. Every decision is made is driven solely by the child's best interest.
I can't save enough compliments about this school for the short amount of time we have attended. We hope to continue here even through the middle school as they have so much to offer.
Here your child gets to experience the school barnyard, learn swimming during the summer and learn Chinese from a teacher actually from China ( once in Kindergarten). The worldly things she learns on a daily basis at her age never ceases to amaze me. The teachers are very attentive & caring and get back with you quickly if you have concerns .
The other parents I've met in her class and 3-5 year old grade level all seem like decent caring individuals as well. And the times I've volunteered at lunch, there's a good energy between all the kids and teachers.
I live 1/2 hr away so I could easily go to Safety Harbor or Palm Harbor Montessori, which are both much closer to me. But I don't because for the same cost ( which is not cheap) or less, you get so much more at this school.
They don't allow SUGAR at the school at the school, which is rare to find. It helps reinforce healthier eating habits and well as not contributing to hyperactive / ADD kids.
Wish I got to go here when I was growing up....
As a working parent, it isn't always easy to balance the demands of work and family, however, I know that Country Day is my partner. I am truly grateful my daughter is part of the Country Day family and I am 100% certain that her future successes will be in large part due to the foundation started at this amazing school.
